On July 6, 2023, woom Bikes USA recalled its woom ORIGINAL bicycles due to a fall hazard.

The recalled bikes include all sizes of:

  • woom ORIGINAL 2018 model bikes
  • woom ORIGINAL 2019 model bikes
  • woom ORIGINAL 2020 model bikes
  • woom ORIGINAL 2021 model bikes

These bikes were sold in various versions: woom 1, woom 1 Plus, woom 2, woom 3, woom 4, woom 5, and woom 6.  They were also sold in the following colors: red, green, blue, purple, and yellow. The recalled bikes were designed for children between 18 months and 14 years old. Approximately 84,000 bikes sold in the USA and 533 bikes sold in Canada are being recalled. The bikes were sold at woom.com, amazon.com, and select bike stores across the USA from September 2018 through March 2022.

What is the Hazard?

The stem and handlebar on these bikes can detach. As a result, the rider may lose control and fall, resulting in serious personal injuries. There have been 77 reports of the handlebar stem detaching or loosening and 19 reported injuries involving bruising, cuts, or abrasions.
